Wedding Night According to Sunnah!

Wedding is a very exciting event in one's life. We plan so many things for that particular day. Girls want to look prettiest for their husbands, and husbands also want to impress their woman at their best!

We save money , we invite people, we try our best to make it a wonderful day for ourselves and for our guests as well.

At the wedding night, the room gets decorated , petals are set, lights are all there, everything looks great. As a muslim, how should one spend his first night of marriage?

Here are the things found in Sunnah of prophet ﷺ that will give you and your spouse a perfect start of this blessed relationship.

1. Give a gift

Gifts are always a beautiful expression of your love. The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said,"Exchange gifts, as it will lead to increasing your love for one another" [Al - Bukhari]

2. Make dua for each other

Husband should put his hand on his wife's head and read the following dua:

"O Allah, verily I ask You for her good and the good of what You have created in her, and I ask seek refuge with You from her evil and the evil of what You have created in her"

The wife should also make dua for her husband, by changing ها in the above mentioned dua to هُ.

3. Seek Protection from the devil

If the couple decides to have sexual intercourse, then they must first seek refuge from the devil by the following supplication:

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ساید،"When the couple reads this, and the wife conceives, Shaytaan will never be able to harm this child۔"

This supplication is not specified to be read only for the first time. One must always seek refuge from the devil before lovemaking.

Note: It is recommended to pray 2 rakat salah together, but this is not proven by sunnah. Some Sahabah and early people followed this practice. So there is nothing wrong if one does it or does not!
